Fans believe Billie Eilish, who will take centre stage in the Olympics closing ceremony tonight, has made ‘subtle digs’ at fellow star Taylor Swift, however she has previously commended the ‘untouchable’ singer
While Taylor Swift continues to perform her sell-out Eras tour across the globe, all eyes will be on fellow superstar Billie Eilish tonight as she is set to bring the roof down at the Olympic Games closing ceremony.
The iconic Stade de France has been transformed into a gigantic concert hall with performances from Eilish and Red Hot Chilli Peppers streamed from the home of the next host, Los Angeles. And to keep up his ever-present status at the games, Snoop Dogg is also set to make an appearance.
The music legends have been chosen because of their links to LA where the games move to in 2028, according to America’s Variety magazine. As we have seen Olympic athletes embroiled in heated rows and clashes after the month-long Games, Billie, 22, is also said to have her own ongoing feud with Taylor, 34, reports suggest.
The two popstars have allegedly been locked into a ‘viscous campaign’ in recent months as they battled it out for the top spot in the charts as they released their respective new albums. Billie has also been accused of making jibes at the Bad Blood star, however she has denied ever singling out any fellow artist.

Back in March, the Birds of a Feather singer called out musicians for releasing multiple editions of their albums on vinyl. And while she didn’t name Taylor, it is widely known this is something the singer does.
“We live in this day and age where, for some reason, it’s very important to some artists to make all sorts of different vinyl and packaging,” she told Billboard. “I can’t even express to you how wasteful it is.”
Yet a month later, Billie assured fans that her comments were not directed at anyone in particular. On Instagram Stories, she wrote: “Okay so it would be so awesome if people would stop putting words into my mouth and actually read what I said in that Billboard article.”

“I wasn’t singling anyone out, these are industry-wide systemic issues. & when it comes to variants, so many artists release them – including ME! which I clearly state in the article,” she continued. “The climate crisis is now and it’s about all of us being part of the problem and trying to do better sheesh.”
The comments came as Taylor’s The Tortured Poets Department remained at number one on Billboard’s album rankings since its release on April 19. Critics have suggested she was only able to maintain the prize position by periodically releasing extended editions and variants, with now more than 30.

The singer released two of these on the same day that Billie released Hit Me Hard and Soft on May 17, which many fans saw as a dig to try and quash the competition. Both artists waged a back-and-forth with competing bonus editions of new tracks throughout the week as they fought for number 1 spot, which ultimately Swift retained, with Eilish slotting in just below at no2.
The drama didn’t end here though as in another interview, Billie hit out at stars that put on concerts for more than three hours, saying “nobody wants that”. Swifties took it as yet another dig at Taylor, who is renowned for her hours-long Eras tour set lists. “Doing a three-hour show.. That’s literally psychotic,” Billie said on Stationhead Radio. “Nobody wants that. You guys don’t want that. I don’t want that. I don’t even want that as a fan.
“Even my favourite artists I’m not trying to hear them for three hours. That’s far too long. That’s literally psychotic.” However in a previous interview with LA Times, Billie commended Taylor for her endurance, saying she’s “untouchable.”
“The fact that they can put on a show that long, and it’s filled for so many incredible moments, is amazing,” she added. Taylor is reportedly unfazed by the so-called ‘subtle jabs’, according to a source.
They told MailOnline: “It is clear to her that Billie may have something against her and that it could stem from jealousy. Billie is new to the game compared to Taylor. Billie should really focus on her own album and promoting that instead of trying to tear down another female artist. She claims to be so about female empowerment but does not walk the walk.”
Meanwhile, a source reportedly close to Eilish told the paper that they feel she is a victim of Taylor’s “latest campaign to weaponize her fans.” The source added: “Whenever Taylor feels jealous of a peer’s success, she does all she can to make sure her fans start vicious online campaigns to bring that person down without ever telling them to stop. And all while operating under the guise of being America’s sweetheart.
