Fans hoping for a crossover event between The Lincoln Lawyer and Bosch have been hit with disappointing news. While the two series share multiple actors and are based on characters from the same author, Michael Connelly, the chance of an official crossover seems to be off the table for now.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, The Lincoln Lawyer showrunner David E. Kelley confirmed that despite the overlapping talent and source material, a Bosch–Lincoln Lawyer crossover is not in the works — at least not anytime soon.
🔄 Shared Actors, Shared Universe — But No Crossover
Both The Lincoln Lawyer and Bosch are based on novels written by Michael Connelly, with many of the same characters appearing in both series. Yet, despite the extensive crossover of actors across seasons, fans shouldn’t expect Harry Bosch and Mickey Haller to ever meet on-screen.
Jamie McShane was a major part of The Lincoln Lawyer season 1 as Detective Lankford, while he also appeared in Bosch season 4 as Detective Francis Sheehan, Harry Bosch’s former partner.
Chris Browning played the villainous Teddy Vogel in The Lincoln Lawyer season 1 and Preston Borders, a convicted rapist and murderer, in Bosch season 5.
Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine portrayed Detective Raymond Griggs in both The Lincoln Lawyer seasons and in a minor role in two episodes of Bosch.
Despite these shared roles, Kelley clarified that while these actors may play multiple roles in Connelly’s universe, their characters won’t cross paths.
🔥 Other Familiar Faces in Both Shows
In addition to McShane, Browning, and Mwine, a host of other actors have popped up in both series, creating an interesting network of talent:
Bruce Davidson, a well-known name in the industry, played Judge Walter Abrams in The Lincoln Lawyer and appeared in one episode of Bosch: Legacy.
Christine Horn, Hamky Madera, Justene Alpert, and Bryan Michael Nunez also have roles across both series, though they are more minor.
While many of these actors have played important roles in both shows, Kelley confirmed that the shows will remain separate, with no plans to merge the storylines.
📚 Why No Crossover?
Kelley and other showrunners have cited several reasons for the lack of crossover, including the distinct tone and narrative style of each show.
The Lincoln Lawyer, with its focus on legal drama, and Bosch, a gritty crime procedural, are both rooted in Connelly’s universe but serve very different storytelling needs. Kelley added that while both shows share the same literary foundation, merging the two would be difficult given their unique genres.
⚖️ The Two Worlds, Forever Linked by Books
Despite the disappointing news, there’s no denying the connection between the two shows. Both shows are based on Michael Connelly’s books, and the shared talent creates a unique cross-pollination of stories in his literary universe.
Although Bosch and Mickey Haller may never meet, the shared characters and actors offer a fun and unexpected Easter egg for fans. And for those who love Connelly’s writing, the worlds of both shows will always be intricately linked by their common roots.
“Maybe the characters won’t share screen time,” Kelley mused, “but fans can always imagine their worlds intersecting when they read the books.”
Verdict: While the dream of a Bosch and Lincoln Lawyer crossover is dashed for now, the two shows remain part of the same dynamic literary universe. Fans can still enjoy the connections and familiar faces that bind them together.
