Bryan Cranston Drops Major Bombshell About the End of the Breaking Bad Universe – You Won’t Believe What He Said!

It may be best to say goodbye to the world of Breaking Bad according to franchise star Bryan Cranston.

For five seasons, Breaking Bad star Bryan Cranston brought to life the iconic role of Walter White. He’d later reprise the role for guest appearances in the final season of Better Call Saul, Netflix’s sequel movie, and even a pair of separate Super Bowl commercials. At this point, there are no active plans to develop any more TV shows set in the Breaking Bad universe, and that’s just the natural order of things for Cranston. Speaking with Entertainment Tonight, Cranston shared his thoughts on how the Breaking Bad story feels like it’s already had its beginning, middle, and end, and the time has come to “let it go.”

Everything should come to an end,” Cranston explained. “Everything’s cyclical. Our lives are cyclical. The seasons, trees, everything. And, so, it’s okay to have a beginning, middle, and end, and then let it go. I’m proud of what we did.”

Thereare essentially three major chapters in the Breaking Bad universe. Along with Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, there was a feature film that was made to help tie up some loose ends left with the original series. Called El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie, the 2019 film primarily focused on Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul) looking to escape Albuquerque and make a new life for himself after the events of the TV show. Bryan Cranston briefly appeared as Walter White in a flashback sequence.

Will Breaking Bad Ever Continue?

There are some other members of the Breaking Bad family who feel that there are more stories to be told in that world. Giancarlo Esposito recently reaffirmed his desire to see a new prequel series, dubbed The Rise of Gus, which would explore the backstory of his mysterious character. While it’s not something that would happen anytime soon, it’s not outside the realm of possibility, as original Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan has admitted that he’d consider revisiting the franchise if his next projects don’t turn out very well.

“To be brutally honest, if I get my ass handed to me with this next show and the one after that, and nobody wants to see it and everybody wants Breaking Bad, who knows! Maybe we’ll see our way clearer to doing something in the future,” Gilligan said in 2023, per Variety. “But what I’d like to do is leave it be. I kind of wonder if there are further stories to tell, but I don’t want to beat a dead horse. I look around and see other storytelling worlds — I’m not going to name names — that feel like, ‘Boy, they are really sucking that last dime out of that franchise.'”
