In Bosch: Legacy Season 3, Episode 5, titled “Halfway Truths”, Harry Bosch confronts the brutal confirmation of a horrifying hunch, as the grim consequences of Finbar McShane’s crimes come into full view. What begins with a blood-soaked scene and a box truck vanishing into the night becomes a firestorm of justice, rage, and political reckoning that cracks wide open in Los Angeles.

MURDER CONFIRMED, KILLER GONE

The episode opens with Sheila Walsh’s murder scene at Gallagher Equipment—a moment both tragic and inevitable. LAPD has issued a BOLO for Finbar McShane, but Bosch—ever the seasoned detective—knows that a broadcast alert isn’t enough. Through gritted teeth and cigarette smoke, he says what viewers are already thinking:

“Guy who did this disappeared an entire family. He’s gone. He’s fucking gone.”

And he’s right. The camera cuts to McShane emerging like a ghost from a shadowed alleyway, disappearing into a rigged box truck that roars off into darkness—remorseless and free.

A GRAVE DISCOVERY IN THE TREES

After Bosch: Legacy's Ending, Netflix's Returning 4-Season Legal Drama In The Same Book Universe Is The Perfect Replacement

Bosch may have tried to reassure Siobhan that the Gallaghers might still be alive, but deep down, he knew the truth—and it cuts him as sharply as his instinct ever has.

Partnered with Mo, Bosch tracks GPS data on a backhoe McShane sold suspiciously fast. Their trail leads them to a patch of earth in a grove of willow trees just miles from the Gallaghers’ cabin.

What lies beneath the newly-tilled soil is every investigator’s nightmare—and Bosch’s worst fear: the bodies of two parents and two children, bound, buried, and discarded like they meant nothing.

Bosch doesn’t need to speak when he breaks the news to Siobhan. His face is etched with quiet devastation.

CHANDLER RISES, ARCHER FALLS

While Bosch faces personal and professional trauma, Honey Chandler is navigating the high-stakes world of politics as Election Day arrives. Her opponent, District Attorney Emett Archer, tries to stall justice for his own gain—pressuring LAPD’s Detective Jimmy Robertson to delay clearing Bosch’s name until after polls close.

But Robertson—powered by Paul Calderón’s cool steel performance—won’t play along. He leaks the DA’s misconduct to the Los Angeles Times, leading to a public relations meltdown for Archer.

With grassroots momentum surging, Chandler claims victory—and perhaps more importantly, walks into office with a mission forged from pain and principle.

FIRST CASE AS D.A.? A COVER-UP THAT KILLS

Chandler’s team, canvassing neighborhoods to get out the vote, uncovers a haunting lead: Dennis Williams, a diner owner whose son died of an overdose, shares that the LAPD ignored damning evidence. His son had a sexual relationship with city councilman Patrick Currey, who allegedly injected him with a designer drug that led to his death.

Ignored by police. Protected by politics.

Chandler’s reaction is swift and decisive. In her first official days as District Attorney of Los Angeles, she may already be facing a massive corruption and abuse of power case—a headline-grabbing scandal with personal stakes and public fury.

HALFWAY TRUTHS, WHOLE CONSEQUENCES

Bosch | Rotten Tomatoes

Episode 5 is titled Halfway Truths, but the hour delivers full-force consequences—for Bosch, for Chandler, and for a city drowning in secrets.

McShane is still at large, but Bosch won’t rest.
A grieving father’s pain becomes a new mission.
And the systems meant to protect the innocent once again reveal their cracks.

But Bosch is still standing. Still smoking. Still seething. And now, more than ever, he’s coming for the truth—with everything he’s got.
