“All Bets Are Off!”: Lincoln Lawyer Boss Hints Mickey Could Ditch His Office and Hit the Streets Again

It’s one of the most iconic images in modern legal television: defense attorney Mickey Haller, seated behind the wheel of his Lincoln, legal briefs on the passenger seat, phone in hand, weaving through Los Angeles traffic as he defends his clients from the front seat of his luxury sedan.

What Kind of Lincoln Does Mickey Haller Drive in The Lincoln Lawyer Netflix?

Fans of The Lincoln Lawyer — both the Netflix series and the original Michael Connelly novels — know that Mickey’s car isn’t just a vehicle. It’s his brand, his ethos, and his office-on-wheels. But in recent seasons, as Mickey transitioned into a more traditional office setup, some fans have been left wondering: Is the car office gone for good?

Not necessarily.

“All bets are off,” co-showrunner Ted Humphrey said in a recent interview when asked about Mickey’s mobile workspace. “Could we see him in a different office space? Could we see him in no office space? And back to Lorna having a little office and him being in the car all the time? It’s all open.”

Season 2 leaned heavily into Mickey’s use of a more polished office setup — a shift some fans praised for its realism and logistical sense, but others mourned as a departure from the character’s gritty charm.

Humphrey explained that the shift was driven, in part, by cinematic practicality.

“The car is visually tight. There’s a claustrophobia to shooting extended scenes inside a vehicle,” he said. “And it becomes harder to do dynamic scenes — a lot ends up being Mickey talking on the phone.”

Still, Humphrey acknowledged that fans remain deeply attached to the mobile-lawyer image. And if Season 3 is greenlit by Netflix — as insiders expect it soon will be — producers are open to revisiting Mickey’s roots.

The Return of the Rolling Law Office?

In the early episodes of The Lincoln Lawyer, Mickey’s mobile practice isn’t just clever — it’s a reflection of who he is: a defense attorney who stays one step ahead of the system, working from parking lots, curbsides, and red lights, taking clients where they are, not where the courts want them to be.

The image of Mickey Haller working from his Lincoln — stylish, improvisational, and always on the move — became so iconic that it defined both the original 2011 film starring Matthew McConaughey and the tone of the Netflix reboot.

But will it return?

“We love the car,” Humphrey said. “We love the idea of it, the character it gives Mickey. There’s still room for it to play a bigger role again — especially if the story calls for it.”

Where the Story Might Go

With the potential third season expected to pull from Michael Connelly’s The Gods of Guilt — a novel that leans into themes of redemption, isolation, and Mickey’s struggle to reconnect with his past — the image of him back in his car, a lone figure navigating the city and his own personal demons, may fit perfectly.

“We wouldn’t mind a mix,” Humphrey added. “A hybrid Mickey — sometimes in the office, sometimes back on the road. That’s real. That’s cinematic. And that’s very much on the table.”

The Verdict: Still in Motion

The Lincoln Lawyer Season 3 Will Feature Mickey's Biggest Test Of His Career So Far

As the future of The Lincoln Lawyer hangs in anticipation of a Season 3 renewal, one thing is certain: whether behind a desk or behind the wheel, Mickey Haller’s story is still moving forward.

And for fans hoping to see those iconic shots of LA flashing past his Lincoln windows again, they may just get their wish.
