Over the years, singing competitions like American Idol, The Voice, and even America’s Got Talent offered aspiring artists the chance at a career in the music industry. For the most part, each show seemed to follow the same outline. Each week the singers would take the stage and perform a hit song. If they were good enough, they advanced. For those who struggled to win over the judges or fans, they ended up going home. Now, a new show, The Road, from CBS, looked to offer a different type of competition that saw contestants going on tour with none other than Blake Shelton, Gretchen Wilson, and Keith Urban.
Knowing the importance of gaining real experience, creators Shelton and Taylor Sheridan wanted the contestants to feel the pressure of performing in front of thousands of screaming fans. Given Shelton’s years in country music, he knew exactly how the contestants felt when taking the stage for the first time. In a new teaser, Shelton even admitted, “Touring is hard to get right. But when you do – it’s the greatest feeling in the world.”

Fans Excited To See Blake Shelton, Keith Urban, And Gretchen Wilson On ‘The Road’
Throughout the teaser, Shelton, Wilson, and Urban shared their own knowledge about the pressures of touring. And for 12 contestants, they will battle week after week, hoping to continue their journey on The Road. Revealing the singers who will find themselves sharing the stage with Urban, the video already gained thousands of likes.
Looking at the comment section, fans wrote, “Cannot wait and I’m not a country fan, but I do love Keith and Blake from a non-country fan POV.” Another fan explained how they wanted to audition for the show after trying to land a spot on The Voice and American Idol. “Would love to apply next here! I am an AI, AGT, and The Voice reject. Close so many times but never chosen. Singer and songwriter from Southern Michigan. Would love a shot!”
While the premiere date for The Road has yet to be released, CBS announced the show would kick off in the Fall. With fans already excited for the new show, Wilson promised a unique experience for fans and the contestants as she declared, “Opening for Keith Urban is not for the faint of heart.”
