Sh0ck for LeBron James: Michael Jordan announces unexpected NBA return — fans split over who’s the true GOAT

And just when very few expected it, Michael Jordan surprised the entire NBA by announcing his return — right after LeBron James admitted that they don’t speak. However, it won’t be as a player or a team owner.

Very little was publicly known about the relationship between Jordan and LeBron beyond the emotional moment they shared at the 2022 NBA All-Star Game. After that embrace, when they were both honored among the 75 greatest players in league history, the Los Angeles Lakers star made a surprising confession about MJ.

“We’re in a good place. We don’t talk because I’m still playing. I’m still focused on my craft right now. I think the reason we don’t talk is because I’m still active,” said LeBron James on The Pat McAfee Show. “We all know MJ — even if you don’t know him personally — he’s one of the most ruthless competitors out there. Until I’m done, and he no longer has to watch me run up and down wearing No. 23, and every time my name is mentioned, it’s mentioned alongside his, he’s like, ‘I don’t want to talk to you.’”

After LeBron’s confession about how cold his relationship with Michael Jordan currently is, bad news arrived for the NBA’s ‘King’ — because the spotlight of the league is no longer going to be focused primarily on him.

The reason? MJ’s announcement.

NBC posted on X: “We’re thrilled to welcome Michael Jordan as a special contributor for the NBA on NBC and Peacock.” Shortly after, the Chicago Bulls legend himself confirmed the bad news for LeBron James — that he’ll be joining as a commentator and analyst — by saying:

“I’m very excited to see the NBA return to NBC. The NBA on NBC was a significant part of my career, and I’m thrilled to be a special contributor to the project. I look forward to seeing everyone when NBA on NBC launches in October.”

Who has more NBA titles — Michael Jordan or LeBron James?

This is one of the key arguments in the debate over who is the true GOAT (Greatest of All Time). While Michael Jordan won six NBA championships in six Finals appearances, LeBron James has won four championships in ten Finals.
